This is a short video of what God is doing in the streets of Recife, Brazil, among the poor and the broken! Share it!
Today we had a rough night, amazing one, still quite difficult. We started our church service on Praça do Diário where we meet every Tuesday. It started out with worship and God’s presence there was awesome. The homeless kids and adults were singing worship songs and God was touching their hearts. One guy started crying as he was feeling Papa’s love. Because he was crying another drunk and crazy man started to pick on him and next thing we know they’re on the ground fighting. After separating them we sent the other man away, because all the others were so upset and they were threatening to kill him for insulting the young man that was crying. We saw several others attacking this man and we were able to have him at distance. One little kid found an extension cord and whipped him several times. After convincing the others to calm down I walked him to a bus stop, the kid came back to whip him twice and almost hit me at both times. Finally I gave him money so he could leave the area by bus. Others are promising they will kill him next time he comes back. Pray for the opposite, and for life to invade them all.
After that we were able to bring peace and calm them down, and God was moving in their lives again. Rachael and the girls helped a 13 years-old girl, and as she found out she was pregnant she asked us for help, for this reason we brought her to the girls house. We don’t have paperwork to receive girls yet, thus we couldn’t say no to her. So tomorrow we will look for medical help and legal support with Child Services. Please pray for us.

It’s been just over a week that I’ve been here. It feels good to be settled in. I’m getting used to doing most of the little things (throwing away toilet paper, fighting off Mosquitos and ordering things without cheese). My Portuguese is coming along with the help of my private tutors, Robson and Gláucia. I am extremely blessed to be able to be down here with these amazing people.
Last Sunday we went out on the streets to build relationships with the prostitutes and transvestites. The people we met were precious, my heart breaks thinking about them. The first two that we talked with were a 20 something transvestite named Felipe (Fernanda), and a 16 year old girl. The girl was there because she has a 4 mo old baby to support. We cannot wait to open up the rescue home so these girls will have a place to go…

Assim oramos.”

BOSTON – The men came from different walks of life on two continents: a children’s puppeteer in Florida, a hotel manager in Massachusetts, an emergency medical technician in Kansas, a day care worker in the Netherlands.
In all, 43 men have been arrested over the past two years in a horrific, far-flung child porn network that unraveled once a key clue was spotted.
In this case, the clue was a stuffed toy bunny.

Countries that host the Olympic Games typically look forward to the tourists and money the events bring. But there’s also a dark side to that influx of visitors–the sexual exploitation of children by sports fans.
Brazil, which is hosting the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics, is already making plans to ward off this potential disaster.
In northeastern Brazil, a growing number of tourists have become a sizable part of the economy. These visitors come to the region to take advantage of its world-renowned beaches, colonial architecture, and rich history. Tragically, some also come to take advantage of Brazil’s children.
“It’s very easy to buy a girl. It’s like buying a chocolate,” youth counselor Carlos da Bomba, who works for the Guardian Council in Recife, said.
